Ms. Tetro was born and raised in Connecticut. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and then attended the University of Southern Maine for her bachelor’s in nursing. She made Maine her home base for 14 years, including 2.5 years exploring the U.S. as a traveling nurse. 

In 1992, Ms. Tetro moved to Virginia and completed her graduate degree in adult nursing /family nurse practitioner certification at UVA School of Nursing. She enjoyed Charlottesville so much that she never left. Ms. Tetro fostered an interest in diabetes by training to become a certified diabetes educator and works on the outpatient geriatrics team in skilled nursing, long-term care, and assisted living facilities.

Outside of work, her interests include music, nature, reading, walking in gratitude, and a very spoiled cat.
