Ashley Balazs is a dually licensed Physical Therapy Assistant and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant who joined the UVA Health family in 2024 as a Post Acute Care Liaison with Population Health.

Ashley began her career as a therapist at a skilled nursing facility where she specialized in helping geriatric patients with neuromuscular disorders achieve their goals. Her treatment plans included providing a stimulating learning environment that mimicked the home environment to lower the risk of falls and allow for patients to safely return to the community. Her sessions also focused on using creative modifications to maximize independence, and functional tasks and exercises that utilize the body's natural movement patterns to encourage proper muscle development and coordination.

For over a decade, Ashley was a Clinical Liaison for acute inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, devoted to advocating for the needs of her patients and assisting patients and their families with each step of the rehab process. This included communicating with patients and their healthcare providers and educating patients to enable them to navigate all aspects of the healthcare system which fostered autonomy.

Ashley is a proud ambassador for UVA Health and aims to make a positive difference each day in the lives of the patients she serves and those she encounters through the Transitions of Care program.

In her spare time, Ashley enjoys spending time with her cats and family, riding her horse, making pottery, and attending Pilates classes.
