Emily Currier, MSW

Emily grew up in Charlottesville then left to pursue a degree in Anthropology at Emory University in Atlanta, after which she moved to Philadelphia and explored a variety of vocational pursuits including freelance journalism, marketing, and non-profit work. Her interest in social services and supporting access to mental health resources brought her back home to enroll in VCU’s Master of Social Work program.

Emily has experience working with children, adolescents, and their families in varying environments, from after-school program coordinator and group leader to arts-and-crafts facilitator to counseling with a focus on art and play therapies. Emily joined UVA Health in 2025 and brings her dedication to the pediatric population and passion for promoting mental health access to her role as Pediatric Population Health Case Manager.

Finding joy in building community, Emily can be seen around town volunteering, participating in the local art scene, and shopping at small businesses. She enjoys taking long weekend road trips around Virginia and admiring the state’s natural beauty.
