As a Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator for Infectious Diseases and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine within the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health, Dr. Cox Hall has provided pharmacotherapy services for both the antimicrobial stewardship and adult infectious diseases consult teams since 2005. In 2018, she helped found the UVA Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) service in collaboration with ID physician and nurse practitioner colleagues. She received her BS in Chemistry from McGill University and her PharmD from Nova Southeastern University. Her Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 Infectious Diseases residencies were completed at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She has been recognized with outstanding preceptor awards from VCU School of Pharmacy (2010) and the UVaHS Pharmacy Residency Class (2009, 2014).

 

Lindsay Donohue, PharmD, BCIDP

Dr. Donohue is an Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Pharmacist.  Dr. Donohue received her PharmD from VCU School of Pharmacy, graduating as a member of the first UVA satellite campus class.  She subsequently completed both PGY-1 Pharmacy and Infectious Diseases residencies at UVA Health System in Charlottesville, VA.  Dr. Donohue’s clinical research is in antimicrobial stewardship, with a focus on implementation and utilization of rapid diagnostics.  She serves as preceptor for the VCU School of Pharmacy, PGY-1 general infectious diseases consult, and PGY-2 microbiology, general, and immunocompromised infectious disease consult services.

 

Lindsey Buscemi Lipinski, PharmD, BCPS, AAHIVP

Dr. Buscemi is an Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist. She has been employed at UVA since 2013. Her primary practice site is the Infectious Diseases Clinic where she primarily manages patients with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C. She received her PharmD from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (formerly Philadelphia College of Pharmacy). She completed both her ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy and ASHP-accredited PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  Dr. Buscemi’s clinical interest and research focuses on antiretroviral resistance and treatment simplification strategies, promotion of medication adherence, and antiretroviral medication safety.

Zach Elliott, PharmD, BCIDP

Dr. Elliott is an Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Pharmacist.  He received his PharmD from Mercer University College of Pharmacy in 2015.  Dr. Elliott completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL followed by a PGY-2 in Infectious Diseases at UVA Health System in Charlottesville, VA.  Dr. Elliott’s clinical research focuses on antimicrobial resistance and susceptibility testing of fosfomycin in multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae.  He serves as preceptor for the VCU School of Pharmacy, PGY-1 general infectious diseases consult, and PGY-2 general and immunocompromised infectious diseases consult services. 

 

Amy Mathers, MD, D(ABBM)

Antimicrobial Stewardship

Dr. Mathers is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health, and in the Department of Pathology. She has served as the Medical Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship since 2009 and the Assistant Director of Clinical Microbiology since 2012. Her research focuses on the detection, molecular epidemiology, and therapy of carbapenem-resistant and carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae. She also serves as a voting member of the antimicrobial susceptibility testing subcommittee for the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI).  Dr. Mathers was recently recognized with the Department of Medicine Award for Outstanding Clinical Care, the UVa School of Medicine Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Cavalier Award for Innovation in Research.

 

Megan Shah, PharmD, BCIDP

Dr. Shah is an Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Pharmacist. She provides care for the outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) and adult infectious diseases consult teams. Her primary areas of interest include multi-drug resistant gram negative infections, OPAT, and medication safety. Dr. Shah received her PharmD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and ASHP-accredited PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
