PGY1 Pharmacy

 

Linda Allworth, PharmD

Linda Allworth, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Allworth is originally from Oak Hill, VA and is a 2023 graduate from the UNC Eshelman School of School of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include hematology and oncology and emergency medicine. This year she will complete a longitudinal research project evaluating the Utility of apixaban/rivaroxaban loading doses after initial parenteral anticoagulation. Outside of pharmacy she enjoys hiking, practicing yoga, managing a small jungle of indoor plants, trying new foods, and making memories with family and friends.

 

Emily Bowman

Emily Bowman, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Emily Bowman is originally from Lost Creek, WV, and is a 2023 graduate from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy in Morgantown, WV. Her professional interests include ambulatory care and pediatrics. This year she will complete a longitudinal research project evaluating adverse drug events related to outpatient usage of daptomycin versus vancomycin. Outside of pharmacy, Emily enjoys watching TikTok and reality TV shows, trying new restaurants and ice cream shops, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband and cat, Penny. She looks forward to learning more about Charlottesville and creating lasting memories with her co-residents.

 

Jessica Donald

Jessica Donald, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Jessica Donald is originally from Amherst, VA, and is a 2023 graduate from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy in Richmond, VA. Her professional interests include critical care, emergency medicine, and cardiology. This year she will complete a longitudinal research project evaluating the use of apixaban in patients with an AKI. Outside of pharmacy, Jessica enjoys running, hiking, and kayaking. She enjoys spending time with her family including her seven nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is super excited for an upcoming year of fun and friendship with her co-residents. 


Emily Fitch

Emily Fitch, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Fitch is originally from Orange, VA and is a 2023 graduate from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy in Richmond, VA. Her professional interests include investigational drug services (IDS), transitions of care, and geriatrics. This year she will complete a longitudinal research project evaluating deprescribing patterns among different care teams for patients discharged on hospice. Outside of pharmacy, Emily enjoys reading, crafting, watching college sports, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family.  

 

Nicole Glatz

Nicole Glatz, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Glatz is originally from Dublin, OH and is a 2023 graduate from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy in Columbus, OH. Her professional interests include solid organ transplant, internal medicine, and ambulatory care. This year, she will complete a research project evaluating the safety and efficacy of repeated loads of phenobarbital for patients readmitted with alcohol withdrawal. Outside of pharmacy, Nicole enjoys exploring new restaurants in Charlottesville, yoga, listening to podcasts, and watching the buckeyes play! 

 

Hannah Haddad

Hanna Haddad, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Haddad is originally from Grapevine, Texas and is a 2023 graduate from the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include pediatrics, critical care, and cardiology. This year, she will complete a research project evaluating the impact of in-house azole levels on alternative or additive antifungal therapies. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys running (although the Charlottesville hills may be brutal compared to flat Texas), exploring new restaurants, and spending her Saturdays at the IX Park farmer’s market with her Australian Shepherd, Maple.  


Jeanette Lahoud

Jeanette Lahoud, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Lahoud is originally from Houston, Texas and is a 2023 graduate from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Oncology. This year, she will complete a quality improvement project focused on improving time to pediatric chemotherapy initiation. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys hiking, Orange Theory Fitness, spending quality time with friends and family, traveling, playing musical instruments/singing, and reading.

 

Melanie Sokol

Melanie Sokol , PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Sokol is originally from Austin, Texas and is a 2023 graduate from The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include critical care, solid organ transplant, and pediatrics. Mel will be completing a quality improvement project on the optimization of angiotensin II utilization in the ICU. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys exploring wineries, reading, yoga, traveling, and listening to true crime podcasts. She also loves spending time with her two cats - April & Bean.

Noora Hashim

Noora Hashim, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Hashim is originally from Baghdad, Iraq, but grew up in North Carolina and is a 2023 graduate of UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include working in an ambulatory care setting managing many disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Noora will be completing a quality improvement project improving health literacy in Cystic Fibrosis patients. In her free time, Dr. Hashim enjoys cooking, spending time with family, traveling, and trying new restaurants.

Corey Johnson

Corey Johnson, PharmD (he/him)

Dr. Johnson is originally from Hillsborough, NC and is a 2023 graduate from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy. His professional interests include clinical operations, formulary management, and process improvement with clinical interests in infectious disease, critical care medicine, and cardiology. As a part of the HSPAL residency, he is starting the Masters of Science in Health Administration program, providing the opportunity to learn about healthcare systems. Additionally, he will complete a longitudinal project on Antibiotic stewardship at transitions of care: Identifying opportunities to optimize antibiotic therapy. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, golfing, tennis, and exploring new places and eateries.


Gabriele Quaranta

Gabriele Quaranta, PharmD (he/him)

Dr. Quaranta is originally from Nashville,TN  and is a 2023 graduate from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. His professional interests include operations, 340B, and quality improvement and clinical interests include infectious diseases, diabetes management, and psychiatry. This year, he will start a Masters of Science in Health Administration and complete a quality improvement project on reduction of postoperative opioid utilization in pediatric surgical patients. In his free time, he enjoys eating (keeps a pretty extensive list of places tried and to try), spending time outside with his dog Luca, playing pickleball, and visiting new places.

PGY2 Ambulatory Care

 

Stephanie Hannon

Stephanie Hannon, PharmD (she/her)

 Dr. Hannon is originally from Lake Villa, IL and is a 2022 graduate of Butler University College of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include ambulatory care, women’s health, and health equity. Stephanie will complete a quality improvement project on increasing access to vitamin D for women and youth living with HIV. In her free time, she enjoys exploring new restaurants, hiking, playing volleyball, embroidering or crocheting, reading, and finding cool new places in Charlottesville with her co-residents. Her favorite spot in C’Ville is Carter Mountain to watch sunsets and buy peaches.

Abigail Mathes

Abigail Mathes, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Abigail Mathes is the current PGY2 in Cardiology and completed her PGY1 at UVA health. She is from Charlottesville, VA and is a 2022 graduate of UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in Charlottesville, VA. Her professional interests include advanced heart failure amongst other things in cardiology. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys running in the blue ridge mountains, playing in the different Charlottesville soccer leagues, and doing just about anything with her husband. 


PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy

 

Evan Meadows

Evan Meadows, PharmD (he/him)

Dr. Meadows is originally from Richlands, VA, is a 2022 graduate of the VCU School of Pharmacy in Richmond, VA, and completed his PGY1 residency at UVA Health in 2023. Within critical care, he is interested in managing infectious diseases in critically ill patients, trauma, anticoagulation and coagulation, as well as other areas.  This year, he will complete a research project on venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in trauma patients. In his free time, Evan enjoys hiking, video games, movies, baking, playing basketball and other sports, cats, and trying new restaurants. 


PGY2 HSPAL

 

John Parker

John Parker, PharmD (he/him)

Dr. John Parker is originally from Romney, WV, and is a 2022 graduate of the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy in Morgantown, WV.  His professional interests include pharmacy administration, ambulatory care management, quality, safety, compliance, and medication utilization.  His areas of clinical interest include neurology, primary care, and transplant.  In addition to the Master of Science in Health Administration program at VCU, he will be completing a quality improvement project on pharmacist credentialing in the electronic health record (EHR).  In his free time, he enjoys taking care of his houseplants, playing with his adorable cat, Furvanc, spending time with family and friends, and playing video games.  He looks forward to continuing to explore the various thrifting and eating spots in C’ville during his second year at UVA Health.


PGY2 Emergency Medicine

 

Ashleigh Corrado

Ashleigh Corrado, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Ashleigh Corrado is the current PGY2 in Emergency Medicine and completed her PGY1 at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital. She is from Hudson, OH, and is a 2022 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy in Columbus, OH. Her professional interests include emergency medicine, critical care, and pediatrics. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys endurance running (trails and road), trying out new restaurants and breweries, and spending time with her husband and two dogs. She looks forward to continuing to explore C’ville and meet new people in the area.  


PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy

 

Mia DeMarco

Mia DeMarco, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. DeMarco is the current PGY2 Infectious Diseases resident and also completed her PGY1 Pharmacy residency training  at UVA Health. She is from Schenectady, NY and is a 2022 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Ultimately, she wants to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance antimicrobial stewardship initiatives to positively impact patient care. This year, she will be working on a project to audit the use of perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis compared to a local guideline within UVA Children’s. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys cheering on the North Carolina Tar Heels, playing soccer, exploring C’ville with her coresidents, sharing good food with great company, obsessing over dogs, and finding time for video games. 


PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics

Chinmay Bondugula, PharmD (he/him)

Dr.Bondugula is the current PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics Resident after completing his PGY1 residency at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, NC. He has lived in New York, Wisconsin, Illinois, Florida, and in Virginia where he graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy. His current interests include, data analytics, productivity metrics, and clinical decision support. This year, he will complete a quality improvement project reviewing the process for implementing smart infusion pump drug library recommendations based on guidelines from the Institute of Safe Medications Practice. 


PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy

Alecia Guishard

Alecia Guishard, PharmD (she/her)

Alecia Guishard is a lifelong resident of Virginia. She grew up in Smithfield, VA, is a 2022 graduate from Hampton University School of Pharmacy in Hampton, Virginia, and completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. Her professional interests include academia and precepting, medical oncology, and drug development research. This year, Alecia will complete a quality improvement project aimed at mitigating discharge delays for allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplant patients. Outside of pharmacy, she resides in Lynchburg, VA and enjoys sleeping, playing guitar, watching anime, trying new foods and eateries, and exploring local small businesses. 

 

Carolina Pham

Carolina Pham, PharmD (she/her)

Dr. Pham is the current PGY2 in Oncology and completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Duke University Hospital. She is from Lake Wylie, South Carolina and is a 2022 graduate of the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include malignant hematology and stem cell transplant. This year, she will complete a research project on use of CLIA-VEN induction therapy in newly diagnosed or relapsed/refractory acute myeloid leukemia, and a quality improvement project on accessibility of posaconazole and letermovir in new allogeneic stem cell transplant patients. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, trying new restaurants and breweries, watching Carolina basketball, and spending time with her fiancé. 


PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy

 

Stephen Astrachan

Steven Astrachan, PharmD (he/him)

Dr. Astrachan is the current PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy resident after completing his PGY1 residency also at UVA Health. He is originally from York, Pennsylvania and is a 2022 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy (Hail to Pitt!). His current interests in pediatrics include general pediatrics, adolescent health, critical care, and ambulatory care, with long-term goals in academia. This year, he will complete a research project comparing safety and efficacy outcomes of brand name versus generic formulations of tacrolimus administered sublingually in pediatric liver transplant recipients. When he’s not at home spoiling his cats, Ferb and Mr. Pickles, he enjoys staying active by powerlifting, golfing, and attending sporting events. He is excited to spend another year exploring Charlottesville with his coresidents.

QingXiang Mo

QingXiang Mo, PharmD (he/him)

Dr. Mo is originally from Brooklyn, NY and a graduate of University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Buffalo, NY. He completed his PGY1 Pharmacy Resident at Northwell Health - North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY. His clinical interests include xenotransplantation, immunosuppression innovation, and immunocompromised infection. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, cooking, and looking forward to having a fur baby after residency.
