The Lab Systems Engineering department is charged with providing support to the Medical Laboratories to ensure the accuracy, security, and availability of laboratory-related data.  Department staff will work collaboratively with clinical staff, based on declared need, to identify issues and assess the extent to which IT may be leveraged to make processes more efficient and effective; proposed solutions are assessed for feasibility and requirements are obtained for implementing connectivity as well as order/result communications. 

Systems Supported & Services Provided:

The systems/modules supported include Epic Beaker, Sunquest Blood Bank Information System, Data Innovations, Atlas, WAM, Rapidcomm, RALS, and Nuance.  Desktop support services are offered for lab-related desktop systems, laptops, and PDAs, and end-users computing-related needs.  Additionally, patient merges and ADT updates are performed within the various information systems employed by the Medical Laboratories.  With respect to IT equipment procurement, the Lab Systems Engineering department is involved to help guide the process as it relates to contractual issues related to business associate agreements and security exhibits.
