New Team Member Orientation (NTMO)
Welcome to the University of Virginia Medical Center! As a new Team Member, you play a critical role in helping achieve the Medical Center’s mission and goals. You have made the right choice to become a part of our organization.
New Team Member Orientation (NTMO) is your first step towards building a successful career. Depending on your role, NTMO will take between 1 to 3 days to complete. When you have completed your NTMO sessions, you will participate in a specific department based orientation.
NTMO General Sessions
NTMO begins every other Monday. View the schedule for orientation dates.
Times: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Benefits session begins at 3:30 p.m.)

- Welcome by a member of senior leadership
- Wayfinding, parking and individual schedule review
- Orientee obligations - Confidentiality, Time & Attendance
- Lunch with the hiring manager or designee
- Welcome by the Associate Vice President

Days 2 & 3 - Orientation to Patient Care (OPC)
(For employees with direct patient care responsibilities)
Each component of OPC is designed for specific work groups. Attendance and participation in the various components depend on your role. Once you complete your required OPC components, please report to your department/unit managers to begin department orientation.
Nursing Clinical Orientation
RN's, NPs and LPN's (except Residency, Mentorship and Travelers) are required to attend a Nursing Clinical Orientation held several weeks after NTMO. Dates will be distributed on day 2 of NTMO.
