Thomas “Brad” Murray, MD is a board-certified internal medicine physician and geriatrician who joined the UVA faculty in 2022. He is dedicated to helping older adults maintain independence, health, and quality of life through compassionate, patient-centered care.

Dr. Murray serves as a Physician Advisor for the Population Health Department and holds several leadership roles, including Co-Medical Director of the Mobile Care Unit, Medical Director of Continuum Home Health, and Physician Sponsor for Population Health’s Behavioral and Mental Health Program and Advanced Practice Providers. He brings extensive experience across skilled nursing, assisted living, home health, primary care, and hospital-based medicine.

An Assistant Professor in the UVA Department of Medicine’s Division of Geriatrics, Dr. Murray is Program Director for the UVA Geriatrics Fellowship, where he helps train future geriatricians. He also serves as a Certified Medical Director for Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge.

A Charlottesville native, Dr. Murray earned his Master of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he also completed his internal medicine residency and geriatric fellowship. Before returning to UVA, he practiced in a community health center on Virginia’s Eastern Shore alongside his wife, a pediatrician. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and their four children.
