Ellena began her nursing career at UVA Health in 2023, working in the Emergency Department, where she cared for patients with a wide range of acute medical and behavioral health needs. She later transitioned to the Surgical Trauma Unit, caring for critically ill patients following traumatic injuries, complex surgeries, and conditions involving multiple organ systems. These experiences strengthened her clinical judgment, critical thinking, and ability to remain calm and compassionate in challenging situations. It also developed her strong commitment to patient advocacy and to being a kind, attentive presence for patients and their families during difficult times.

Ellena joined Population Health in 2026 as a Mobile Care RN. She values the opportunity to meet people where they are and provide medical services to individuals who may face barriers to accessing healthcare. One of the most rewarding aspects of her work is connecting individuals with the resources, supplies, education, and support they need to improve their health and well-being.
