Information for Class Participants

Class Lists and Handouts | Directions & Parking

Cancellation Notifications

Occasionally, classes may be canceled, due to:

  • low enrollment
  • last-minute presenter emergency
  • inclement weather

You will be notified by email if a class is canceled more than a week in advance. You will be notified by email and phone (if possible) if a class is canceled less than one week prior to the day of the class.

For inclement weather:

  • If an announcement is sent out from the Health System for non-designated personnel to go home or not come in to work, we cancel classes.
  • Call the UVA Hotline at (434)-924-7669 or check on the Health System's Website under the  Hospital Command Center on mornings when there is inclement weather to determine whether or not non-designated employees should report. If not, our classes are cancelled for the day.
  • For designated employees who were scheduled to attend a class that has been cancelled, check in with your manager to see if you are needed on the unit.

Enrolling, Dropping, and Wait-Listing

Preregister through NetLearning/ Workday Learning to help us plan for your class attendance. Preregistration is important for a number of reasons:

  • If preregistered enrollment is low, we will cancel the class.
  • Preregistration helps us plan for rooms, handouts, and other logistics.

If you need to drop the class, please unenroll via NetLearning no later than 24 hours prior to the class, as a courtesy to both presenters and wait-listed students.

Waiting List: If a class is already full when you try to enroll, NetLearning offers you the option to add your name to a waiting list. As described above, if any openings in the class arise, we will try to provide you with 24 hours' notice of your option to attend.

What to Expect at Your Class

Double check the date, time, and location in your class confirmation email. Review the parking information and directions to the 999 Grove St. location.

You may want to dress in layers, or bring a sweater - classroom temperatures can vary.

If your class is located at the 999 Grove St. classrooms, complimentary coffee, hot tea, and ice-water are provided. There are also onsite vending machines for sodas and snacks. For all-day classes with a lunch break, students can visit nearby restaurants or walk to the UVA Hospital Cafeteria; there is also an onsite refrigerator and microwave, if you wish to bring your lunch.

There is a phone with which you can clock in and out, as well as answer pages. If classroom #3 is available, you can use the computers to check your UVA email.
