Fluoroscopy Preparation

Confirmation Call

A UVA Imaging Patient Liaison will contact you to provide preparation instructions for your procedure, including any liquid or food restrictions as well as arrival time.

If you are having a spine or lower extremity injection, you will need to have transportation to and from our imaging center.

You will be asked to change into a gown and scrub pants for your exam.  A locker will be provided to store your clothing during your exam.

Your specific procedure may require that you stop taking certain medications prior to your exam. Examples:

  • Blood thinners
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve)

If you are taking antibiotics, you will need to finish the course before your procedure.

During your preparation call, we will ask if you are taking these medications and will inform you if you need to discontinue taking them.

Questions about how to prepare for your exam? Call us Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm at (434) 982-6600 or toll free at (855) 875-7764.
