The University of Virginia Children's Hospital provides innovative care to infants, children and adolescents with complex health issues. We serve young patients statewide and from across the nation.
As a nurse at our Children's Hospital, you'll develop specialized expertise through our strong orientation, continuing education and professional development programs, as well as through mentorship in bedside care. Our fast-paced environment and high patient acuity continuously stimulate growth and learning in staff across all our settings. With expansion of our services planned, UVA nurses will have an even greater role in shaping the future of pediatric healthcare.
Nurses play a key leadership role in the coordination of care. Through a well-established, evidence-based practice system, nurses define and direct advances in care predicated upon national standards and best practices literature. With our focus on quality pediatric care, nursing excellence thrives in our tertiary Children's Hospital program.
In all of our inpatient settings, we support the whole child, and families play an integral role in our collaborative team of experts serving our smallest patients.
Our settings include:
- NICU and Transitional Nursery: 45-bed NICU that cares for Level II and Level III infants
- Acute Care Pediatrics: 35-bed acute and intermediate care beds
- PICU: Level 1 Trauma Center, full-service 14-bed unit
- Inpatient Children's Rehabilitation Center: 10 acute and 9 rehabilitation beds
