Welcome to UVA Health!

UVA Health Orientation

Welcome to UVA Health! We are glad you are here! UVA Health includes a hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, a nationally recognized cancer center and heart center, and primary and specialty clinics throughout Central Virginia plus, a six-floor, 425,000 square-foot Emergency Department tower. We rank among the nation’s top hospitals because our doctors, nurses, and caregivers provide a wide-variety of high quality, specialized care to patients from across Virginia and beyond. No matter what your role, or where you are working, patient-centered care is our priority.

Orientation (whether in-person or via a Workday learning module) occurs on your first day as a University Medical Center team member, and on or about the first day as a School of Medicine or UVA Physicians Group team member. Depending on your role, orientation and training may take up to two weeks or more to complete. Once all required training is completed, team members may also participate in department-specific orientation.

UVA Health Orientation offers an in-person session for University Medical Center new hires and International Nurse new hires only.

**Masks are optional in the Education Resource Center (ERC) but may be required in other UVA Health spaces.**

All UVA Health new hires will receive a Workday learning module that is a recording of the UVA Health orientation presentation.

The module will be assigned to all new hires in the University Medical Center, UPG, SOM, MC Travelers, and MC Temps. There will be an attestation at the beginning of the module in which new hires will indicate if they have taken the in-person training or not. If not, they will be prompted to complete the module.

The UVA Health Orientation in-person sessions take place at the Education Resource Center (ERC), Conference Room A, from 8:00 – 11:00 am., according to the schedule below.
