SHOULD YOU STAY HOME?

YES, when you are sick with flu-like symptoms you should stay home. Visit your healthcare provider. Limiting contact with others will limit the spread of the influenza virus. Provider for a lab confirmed diagnoses. You need to be fever free for 24 hours without fever- reducing medicines such as Tylenol or Advil.

HOW TO AVOID GETTING THE FLU

Wash hands often: before and after patient contact: after shaking hands: after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Use alcohol-based hand rubs when you are not able to wash with soap and water Keep your work area clean: wipe down your work area often with approved disinfectants Cough Etiquette; Cover coughs & sneezes into a tissue or your sleeve around your elbow

  • IS IT THE FLU? YOU MAY EXPERIENCE SOME IF NOT ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Body Aches

  • Cough

  • Fatigue (feeling tired)

  • Fever

  • Headaches

  • Stuffy or Runny Nose

  • Sore Throat

HOW TO TREAT YOUR FLU SYMPTOMS

 

  • If diagnosed with the Flu your provider may recommend the following:

  • Antiviral drug such as Tamiflu

  • Bed rest

  • Lots of fluids - it is very important to not get dehydrated

  • Over the counter, pain reliever's such as Tylenol or Advil, decongestant and Cough Medicine
