Nutrition Support Blog: Annual Appreciation Luncheon

Attendees at the Annual NST Appreciation Luncheon

Last week, the Nutrition Support Team-Medicine hosted our annual “Appreciation Luncheon”.  This is a yearly event where we say thank you for all of the UVAHS faculty and staff that contribute to the nutrition support training programs throughout the year.   Attendees enjoyed a nice break from the day with tasty food and good conversation.

One of the things that has made the UVAHS nutrition support programs so successful is the willingness of our fellow team members and many other disciplines to participate, teach and interact with the trainees.   We are very fortunate to work in a multidisciplinary environment and to have such a wealth of experts in their respective fields.  Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, gastroenterologists, respiratory therapists, speech pathologists, medical librarians, support staff, management teams, and both the Medicine and Surgery Nutrition Support Teams are examples of the professionals that participate in and support the programs in so many ways.   This knowledge and support also extends to the Weekend Warrior programs and webinar programs.

Although Joe and Carol are often the ‘faces’ of the programs, it truly is a group effort!  This group effort does not go unnoticed, and during the luncheon we shared some kudos and thanks from traineeship participants that have benefited from the interdisciplinary approach to learning.

Thanks again to all of our colleagues!
