Journal Club

Despite being in the midst of summer and vacation season, we had a great turnout for our combined June / July journal club meeting.  The latest e-Journal Club write-up is now posted.  We reviewed the following article:  Metheny NA, Stewart BJ, McClave SA. Relationship between feeding tube site and respiratory outcomes. JPEN J Parenter Enteral Nutr. 2011 May;35(3):346-55.  This is an article that you will probably hear quoted often.  Our participants had a great discussion and Joe has put together an excellent summary.  Stay tuned for a write-up of the second article that we discussed from the New England Journal of Medicine.

You may have noticed that we have also added a new page to the website entitled “ Resources for the Nutrition Support Clinician”.  We hope to use this page to share practical information that we have found useful.  We have started with a few topics that we receive frequent questions about--Guidelines for Reviewing Journal Articles, Blenderized Tube Feedings, Pancreatic Enzyme Replacement, and Essential Fatty Acids—and more are on the way.  Let us know if you have suggestions for new resources.  We can’t guarantee that we can cover every topic, but we’d love to hear from you!

Other new items of interest:

  • Gastroparesis Diet in Spanish
  • New and updated Celiac Disease Materials
