Bariatric Surgery Nutrition

Purpose of Clinic Services

  • To assist patients with nutrition needs before and after bariatric surgery
  • To maximize weight loss and minimize nutritional deficiencies for post-surgery patients.

Role of the Clinical Nutritionist: 

  • To provide informational seminars on bariatric nutrition to people considering weight loss surgery including gastric bypass, gastric band and gastric sleeve
  • To provide nutritional counseling for bariatric surgery patients at all initial and follow-up appointments
  • To help facilitate the Lighter than Life Bariatric Surgery Support Group 

Treatment Goals: 

  • Optimize weight loss
  • Maintain nutritional status during and after weight loss
  • Provide support and guidance through the Bariatric Surgery Support Group
