Selection Process

The University of Virginia Health System Dietetic Internship program participates in the Spring DICAS Application Cycle and Spring D&D Digital Matching process. For more details, please refer to the 'Application Information' tab. During the Spring 2018 Cycle, our program received 85 applications and successfully matched all 12 spots. 

The selection committee is comprised of the Program Director, Assistant Director, Internship Coordinator and at least four additional dietitian preceptors. The committee evaluates each application based on the following criteria:

1). Grades

  • Overall GPA Requirement: 3.2 or higher
  • DPD Professional GPA Requirement: 3.5 or higher

2). Personal Statement (Letter of Application)

  • Content, literary style, insight into personal and professional goals, and ability to provide information requested.

3). Work & Volunteer Experience

4). Letters of Recommendation

  • Although not required, we highly encourage one letter from an instructor associated with your DPD program. 

5). Honors, Student Activities & Leadership

At this time, the University of Virginia Health System Dietetic Internship does not conduct interviews as part of the selection process.
