•Attention focused meditation is the intentional practice of focusing on a specific object like breathing, noticing when the attention wanders, disengaging, and bringing the attention back to the object
•It’s not about forcing distractions out of the mind, but about noticing them and not holding on
•It is the foundation for bringing mindfulness into every day life

•Promotes being mindful on purpose and with more regularity
•There are many different kinds – common to most is choice, learning to choose and strengthening this capacity
•Promotes a sense of control over life experience, cultivating the capacity to respond rather than react
