Nutrition Support Training Programs

We offer a variety of training programs to fit your individual needs and goals:

Can't travel to Virginia for Nutrition Support Training?  Our webinars are monthly one-hour lectures provided via conference call and internet.   Topics include a variety of nutrition support issues.  Each lecture provides practical tips and time for questions and answers from the audience.

Nutrition Support Traineeship Program:

A unique, five-day opportunity to achieve a higher level of practice in nutrition support.  Our evidence-based program utilizes actual patient cases, physician-led nutrition support team rounds, small group discussions, critical evaluation of research, and a practical, hands-on approach to learning.  Our goal is to optimize continuing educational time and expenses by focusing on the individual's learning needs.  Also included is an elaborate, fully referenced syllabus.

Weekend Warrior

The week-long Nutrition Support Traineeship at the University of Virginia Medical Center has been very successful. However, we realize that it is not always practical or financially possible for clinicians to leave work or home for a full week at a time. The goal of this program is to provide as much up to date, practical nutrition support education as possible in a shorter 2-day course. Lectures will be enhanced by interactive case studies, question and answer periods, and group discussions.

Traineeship Manual Self-Study Program

A comprehensive syllabus that addresses nutrition assessment, monitoring, critical care nutrition, enteral and parenteral nutrition, fluid, electrolytes, acid-base, interpreting/evaluating medical research, and more. The modules are fully referenced, based on current evidence-based literature, and provide a template for education at the bedside.  The manual is provided with the Nutrition Support Traineeship and Weekned Warrior programs, or can be purchased seperately as a reference and self-study resource.  The 2013 manual is approved for 10 hours of self-study CPE for Registered Dietitians.
