Professional Interests/Background
Ashleigh has 12 years of clinical experience both in adult and pediatric nutrition. She has been certified/re-certified as a Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition from The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, completed The Certificate Training Program in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management, ELL Food Allergy Specialty Training and is an Emotional Brain Training certified educator.  Ashleigh started a group weight management program at UVA called Finding My Healthy Weight for adults that is held every other month and she developed a workshop on Nutrition for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome held monthly.  Ashleigh’s interests on the pediatric side of nutrition are in food relationships, behavioral eating issues in children, food allergies, overweight/obesity and in generally helping families find a healthier way of life.  With adults she specializes in weight management, working with pre-bariatric surgery patients, and women with polycystic ovarian syndrome.  Ashleigh often speaks in the community about raising healthy families and has been interviewed for local TV news programs, publications and radio shows.

My primary focus/interest is in intuitive eating, behavioral/emotional connections with food, the negative effect skewed food relationships can have on one’s emotional and physical health and how establishing healthy eating habits from pregnancy through childhood can promote lifelong health.  I love speaking about Raising Healthy Eaters and on non-dieting approaches to weight management.
